There are many option out there for orthodontic treatment. Each one has it’s Pros and Cons but this is a breakdown of some of the major brands and differences between different orthodontic systems. This is not meant to be all inclusive but to give a general idea of some of the basic options available in the field of Orthodontics. Always consult with your dentist or orthodontist prior to treatment to help further inform you of the available treatment options.
Traditional Brackets – Tried and true used for years and will be around for as long as we are moving teeth
Ceramic and Clear Brackets – made of ceramic materials so they are virtually invisible however they are slightly more fragile and can break. They are often times more expensive but well worth the cost for adults
Damon® Brackets – traditional brackets use little plastic rings called ligature ties to connect the wire to the bracket and move the teeth. The Damon Bracket uses a “window” that can be slid open and shut. The claim is that there is less resistance and thus faster movement but it still seems to take about 18-24 months.
FastBraces® – These braces use a triangular bracket as opposed to traditional brackets that use a box. Again less resistance is the key but it can be harder for certain movements. Think bar stool instead of chair.
6 months Smiles® – Is braces for just the front six upper teeth. It can be a useful tool if just the front six teeth are bothering you but shouldn’t be used for children. The reality is that you can use clear brackets in the same way 6 months smile does.
Dustin Ward⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐My experience with Dr. Taler and his staff has been fantastic! Dr. Taler is probably the only person on this earth who could get me into braces in my mid 30’s and I am so happy he did! The changes my teeth have made over the past few months is nothing short of incredible. I am enjoying the changes to my smile and my increasing self confidence. My entire family now see’s Dr. Taler and the drive from Zionsville is worth it!
