Get a Brilliant Smile With Porcelain Veneers
Would you like to make a great impression with your bright, beautiful smile? Porcelain veneers placed at the Fishers practice of Dr. David Taler can dramatically enhance your appearance. Veneers are ultra-thin shells of tooth-colored ceramic bonded to the front of individual teeth. They can improve a tooth’s color and shape, making them ideal for correcting chipped, crooked, gapped, and discolored teeth. With this proven cosmetic procedure, Dr. Taler can transform a less-than-perfect smile into a gorgeous grin that looks completely natural in as little as two weeks. Why Choose Veneers?
One reason veneers look so good is their lifelike translucency. High-grade ceramic allows some light to pass through the material and reflect off the internal tooth dentin, creating a natural luster. In addition, veneers are very effective for correcting more than one cosmetic issue at once, such as worn-down teeth that are also stained. Veneers can also bring proportion to a “gummy” smile by lengthening short teeth. Caring for veneers is simple: just brush and floss as you normally do.
Candidacy and Other Considerations
Candidates for porcelain veneers should first have good oral health. If you have a condition such as gum disease tooth or decay, it will need to be treated with general dentistry or restorative dentistry before Dr. Taler can approve your candidacy for veneers. Veneers can be used to address one or more of the following:
- Chips and cracks
- Minor misalignment
- Short or misshapen teeth
- Stains and discoloration, especially if they are resistant to teeth whitening
- Worn enamel
- Gaps between teeth
To fully evaluate your candidacy for porcelain veneers, Dr. Taler will perform a thorough evaluation of your dental health and discuss your cosmetic goals with you in detail during a personal consultation.
Placement of Porcelain Veneers
In addition to your initial consultation, your veneers will require two visits with Dr. Taler to complete.
Step One: Preparing the Teeth
A very small amount of enamel must be removed to accommodate the veneers and ensure they lie flat against the gums. This also provides a roughened surface for the veneer to bond firmly to the tooth. After this step is complete, Dr. Taler will precisely measure your bite and take several impressions of your teeth. These will be sent to a lab so that a dental ceramist can craft your customized veneers. The fabrication will take approximately two weeks to complete. In the meantime, you may wear temporary veneers.
Step Two: Bonding the Veneers
Once your veneers are complete they will be permanently bonded to your teeth. After removing your temporaries, Dr. Taler will apply a special etching solution to create a strong attachment. Next, he will apply bonding cement to the veneer, and position it precisely on the tooth. A curing light is then used to harden the cement very quickly, creating a permanent and durable bond. Last, Dr. Taler will evaluate your bite and make any necessary fine adjustments.
