Choose Dental Implants for Tooth Replacement or Denture Support at our Fishers Practice
We proudly place and restore dental implants at our Fishers practice. These small titanium posts are surgically implanted in the jaw to replace lost tooth roots, providing the ultimate support for dentures and crowns. With multiple sedation options and a comfortable, sterile surgical environment, we can make your implant experience safe and comfortable. Our exceptional oral surgeon, Dr. David Taler, places both traditional and immediate-placement implants. Before Your Procedure
During your initial consultation, Dr. Taler will determine your candidacy for implants, and he will make recommendations about the best implant type and placement for your needs. The procedure itself is performed using sedation and local anesthesia. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation. If you choose, we can use general anesthesia. Most patients find that local anesthesia used in conjunction with sedation keeps them completely relaxed and comfortable.
Placing the Implants
Once you are comfortably sedated, Dr. Taler will place your implants. Because titanium is biocompatible, over the next several months, your jaw bone will fuse to the implants in a process called osseointegration. When fusion is complete, you will return for a second surgery in which abutment pieces are attached to the implants. These serve as the point of connection with your dentures or crown. Once the gums have healed, we can begin creating your custom restorations.
We have established a relationship with an outstanding dental lab to ensure your restorations look natural and attractive. Dental implants will hold your dentures or crowns firmly in place, allowing you to speak, smile, and chew without worrying they will slip or shift. Imagine using your dentures to take a bite out of a crisp apple. Dental implants make it possible! In addition to the excellent stability dental implants provide, this solution can also prevent jaw atrophy, a natural reaction to missing tooth roots. Dental implants are one of the very best investments you can make in a compromised smile.
Traditional implants require two visits, with some healing time in between. However, if you have waited to address missing teeth, your jaw may have begun to atrophy, and may no longer be able to support traditional implants. In this case, we also offer immediate-placement implants. These implants are smaller in diameter, and can be supported by less bone mass. Our All-on-4® option is a special configuration of immediate-placement implants designed specifically to support full dentures. Immediate-placement implants can be restored as soon as they are placed.
If needed, Dr. Taler can perform bone grafting and sinus lift surgery to prepare you for dental implants. If bone atrophy has rendered your jaw unable to support implants, we can augment your jaw with bone grafting. If x-rays reveal that your sinus cavities may be disrupted by dental implants, a sinus lift can augment the upper jaw to prevent this complication. Following your procedure, you will also benefit from our excellent aftercare. In addition to thorough checkups, we provide medications and steroids to minimize your discomfort and assist healing.
